Background : Rani Channamma University, PG Centre, Jamkhandi has been established Department of Studies in Commerce (M.Com.) with 40 students intake at Old Mini Vidhan Soudha Building, Jamkhandi in the year 2017 by the Rani Channamma University, Belagavi through its notification on 7th August, 2017. The Department of Commerce started functioning from the academic year 2017-18 in the School of Business Studies. It offers two years (four semesters) Post Graduate Degree in Commerce with specialization in Accounting and Finance, Cost Management and Control, and Banking & Insurance. The course is being designed, updated and imparted to develop conceptual and analytical skills of the students in line with the industry requirements. The department will be organized workshops, conferences, symposium, and seminars in the department. Vision Statement: To develop into a world class Centre of excellence in learning commerce education, research and entrepreneurship by 2025. Mission Statement: It’s our responsibility to collaborative and professionally provide access to high quality best practices of Commerce Education and to stay competitive in tomorrow’s world.

Activities:
a. Our most vital job is to teach, Research, Consultancy and extension work in the dept.
b. To organize workshop, seminars, conference and symposium in the dept.
c. UGC-NET and SLET remedial classes for M.Com Students.
d. Best practices of the dept. such as weekly news review, special talk on specific domain, videos of business tycoons, person counseling and mentoring and information regarding career guidance.

The government of Karnataka has decided to encourage higher education in North Karnataka and its surrounding districts mainly, Belagavi, Bagalkot and Vijayapur by granting a new university in the year 2010 led to the birth of Rani Channamma University, Belagavi and Now P G Halakatti Post Graduate Centre is part of the Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. Presently the Centre is offering two years postgraduate courses in History and Archeology, Social Work, English, Commerce, Kannada and Computer Science along with one year PG Diploma course in Tourism. Our Library functions as the primary information resource Centre and repository of all printed and e-resources for teaching and research activities. Apart from textbooks and recommended reading material prescribed for each course, the library houses a growing collection of research monographs, reports, multi-volume reference works, dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, and so on.
