RANI CHANNAMMA STUDY CHAIR

Vision:
To bring out the nuances of phenomenal struggle against colonial role by princely state like Kittur and to formulate its impacts on freedom movement which reflects the true essence of India.

Mission:
To evaluate the impact of distinctive changes in post Vijayanagara Period’s Socio-cultural, Socio-political, Socio-religion, Socio-Economical. Socio-linguistic affairs in the cultural heritage of Karnataka through Kitturu Princely.

Objectives:
The following are the specific objectives of the Chair:
1. To undertake studies and research on the life, work and the message of Rani Channamma.
2. To propagate the ideals of Rani Channamma.
3. To undertake socio-economic, historical and cultural study of the worrier, downtrodden community and their profession in North Karnataka.
4. To organize invited Lectures/debates on social values propounded by Rani Channamma specially related to social equity, untouchability and social justice. Attempts will be made to involve experts, researchers, social and cultural service workers, institutes and students.
5. To establish a documentation centre, library and museum relating to the work of Rani Channamma and the socio-economic and cultural dimensions of the worrier, downtrodden community.
6. To arrange seminars, workshops, symposia, sensitization and awareness programmes and special extension lectures.
7. Study of the challenges before the worriers, Kuruba and subaltern community today.
8. Networking with other bodies involved in similar/related activities for joint academic programmes and actions.
9. Publication of work/researched materials.
10. To establish an integrated and fulfledged library of Rani Channamma related works. The Library should include collections about Rani Channamma’s literature and books on his works.
11. To organize audio visuals related to Rani Channamma’s literature including exhibition of drama, arts, music and such other stage performances in the university campus and off the campus.
12. To organize programmes in coordination with other Universities, Academies, Karnataka Sahithya Parishath, Kannada Pusthaka Pradhikara and other organizations.
13. To arrange stage programmes, musical concerts etc., in rural areas and in the University and other constituent/ affiliated colleges to disseminate the messages of Rani Channamma involving colleges, youth clubs and mahila mandals.
14. To publish lecture series, research works and conference proceedings.
15. At the end of every academic year to organize Rani Channamma Smrithií inviting a renowned scholar to give special lecture on Rani Channamma’s works and contribution and also organize musical concert by an eminent musician.
16. To conduct the Ph. D, M.Phil, PG Diploma, Diploma and Certificate courses as per the University regulations.
17. To undertake outreach activities for overall development of rural villages/cities.
18. To undertake any related work as decided by the Advisory Committee from time to time.
