ABOUT: The School of Classical Kannada Studies is one of the most prominent and independent School in the Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. It was started in 2010. Earlier it was a Department before the Rani Channamma University emerged. When it was P.G. Centre of Karnataka University, Dharwad. Now the School is exists with the Independent faculty. Separate Dean was appointed for this School. The School of Classical Kannada Studies is a vibrant institution to serve the Kannada, Kannadiga, Karnataka and its culture and Literature. It has eight Dedicated Teaching Faculty and adequate Non-Teaching Staff. It is situated In bilingual geographical and border area of Karnataka and Maharastra States. The School is working as a bridge between two different culture, language and Literature. Under this School Ph.D in Kannada, M.A. Kannada, P.G. Diploma in Translation and P.G. Diploma in Vachana Studies course were running. In Future, the School has prepared to start P.G. Programme in Linguistics, P.G. Programme in Folklore Studies, P.G. Diploma in Jainalogy, P.G. Diploma in Gandhian Studies. VISION: To project the Knowledge of Classical Kannada and Its Culture in the Global Level. MISSION: 1. Ancient Valuable Knowledge which is extracted in the Kannada Language, Literature and Life Style will be spread out to the Universe. 2. Goal: To Spread out the Classical Kannada Literature in the classical Manner. To create the awareness the strength of Kannada and its Knowledge.

M.A. IN KANNADA INTAKE : 60
Scope
MA in Kannada (Master of Arts in Kannada) is a two-year Master Degree program in Kannada.
Eligibility
Candidates who possess a degree of Rani Channamma University or Any other University recognized by the UGC. The candidate should have any degree with Kannada as a major/optional/basic subject and having at least 45% of marks in aggregate at degree level is eligible to apply. However, relaxation of 5% of marks in respect of SC/ST/Cat-I will be allowed as per prevailing rules of the University and Government Orders from time to time.
Admission Criteria
The admission shall be made as per the reservation policy and directions issued in this regard from time to time by the Government of Karnataka and also as per rules as prescribed by the University from time to time.

Ph.D IN KANNADA
Candidates who have secured at least 55% of aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/Cat-1/Physically challenged) or equivalent grade under grading system, in their Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from the recognized Universities/Institutions.
The admission shall be made as per the reservation policy and guidelines issued by the Government of Karnataka and also as per RCUB from time to time.
Minimum of 03 Years and Maximum of 05 years for Full-Time Candidates/ Minimum 04 Years and Maximum of 06 years for Part-Time Candidates.
Prof. S M Gangadharaiah is working as Professor and Dean in the School of Classical Kannada Studies at Rani Channamma University, Belgaum. He had versatile personality and eminent scholar in Kannada, English, as well as in Sanskrit language and literature. He Published 42 books related to Cultural evolution theories and completed One Major Research Project on ‘Kannada Language in Parliamentary Proceedings’ in the year 2010. He received two academy book awards. One from Karnataka Nataka Academy for his work ‘Ranga Gambeera’ another one is from Karnataka State Sahithya Academy for his work ‘Pruthakkarana’. Also he edited Shabda Pramana in 18 volumes contains critical commentary on Vachana (Sharana) literature of 12th century. He edited eminent Parliamentarians debates from the proceedings of Karnataka State Legislature in multi volumes. Presently he editing the refereed Journal called ‘Abhijatha Kannada’ bared ISSN 2347-4017. He is working for many committees in the University and outside. He served as Syndicate and Academic Council Member of the University in the capacity of Senior Dean. He wrote many articles in reputed newspapers and magazines. He has published more than 200 articles. He has engaged in Major Research Projects. He is a Kannada representative author of coastal Karnataka who has developed a keen interest in Kannada language and literature. He is the author of a profound understanding of ancient, medieval, modern literary heritage and translation studies. He got his M.A.,Ph.d from Kannada University, Hampi. He was awarded doctorate for his research thesis ‘English Geetegala Poorvada Bhashantar Prakriye’. He has been in the teaching profession for ten years. He is presently working as an Assistant Professor in the department of classical Kannada Language at Rani Channamma University, Belagavi. His special field of study is translation. Dr. Hanumantappa Sanjeevannavar, is working as Assistant Professor in Rani Channamma University, Belagavi since 2012. He has passed NET in 2000 and B.Ed in 2011 and SET in same year. A recipient of six-gold medals, awarded in recognition of the top honours in post-graduation, awarded M.Phil on a thesis entitled “Cultural Study on Literature of Writers of Border Areas” (Gadinada Barahagarara Sahityadalli Sahitya Chintane).
